Xi Jinping Unveils Bold LAC Partnership Plans

In an energetic keynote at the fourth ministerial meeting of the China-CELAC Forum in Beijing, Chinese leader Xi Jinping announced a bold roadmap to deepen ties with Latin American and Caribbean (LAC) countries. Over the next three years, China plans to invite 300 leading political party officials from CELAC member states annually to exchange governance insights and boost collaborative strategies. ⚡️

Xi emphasized the importance of strengthening communication on major international issues and aligning development strategies. The proposed initiatives aim to support the Global Development Initiative while safeguarding a stable multilateral trading system and smooth global supply chains.

Highlighting both traditional sectors like infrastructure, agriculture, energy, and minerals along with emerging fields such as clean energy, 5G communications, the digital economy, and artificial intelligence, Xi's vision encourages mutual growth and innovation. This comprehensive approach also includes deepening cultural exchanges—ranging from joint archaeological research to heritage protection—to promote values of equality, dialogue, and inclusiveness.

Security remains a priority as the plan calls for enhanced collaboration in disaster management, cybersecurity, counter-terrorism, anti-corruption, drug control, and combating transnational organized crime. Additionally, to boost people-to-people connections, China will offer 3,500 government scholarships and 10,000 training opportunities for CELAC member states, and has already rolled out a visa-free policy for five LAC countries, with an eye on future expansion. 🌏

This dynamic strategy reflects a growing commitment to shaping a connected world where shared experiences and innovative solutions drive progress and stability across borders.
