Top Advisor Calls for Cultural Unity Across Taiwan Straits

In a move echoing the timeless power of cultural heritage, China’s top political advisor Wang Huning has urged renewed cooperation across the Taiwan Straits. Speaking at the second Cross-Straits Chinese Culture Summit in Beijing, Wang emphasized that Chinese culture is the root and soul of the Chinese people on both sides, inspiring pride and a shared sense of responsibility. 😊

During the summit, Wang highlighted significant milestones — marking the 80th anniversary of the victory in the Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War, as well as the 80th anniversary of Taiwan's recovery. He called for upholding cultural confidence, boosting exchanges across all sectors, and uniting to strive for the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation.

Wang stressed that deep cultural cooperation and patriotism are key to tackling external challenges. He pointed out that these joint efforts should adhere to the one-China principle and the 1992 Consensus while resolutely opposing "Taiwan independence."

Adding to the dialogue, Taiwan guests – including former Kuomintang chairperson Hung Hsiu-chu – echoed this call, expressing unwavering pride in Chinese culture and a desire to strengthen cross-Straits exchanges. For young creatives and tech enthusiasts across South and Southeast Asia, this call for unity signals a blend of enduring heritage with modern innovation, inspiring new forms of cultural collaboration in our fast-paced digital era. 🚀
