The strikes hit hard across Ukraine – with 3 emergency responders lost in Kyiv, 2 casualties reported in Chernihiv, and another in Lutsk. In one of the largest attacks recorded, Russian forces reportedly deployed 407 drones alongside 45 cruise and ballistic missiles, causing widespread disruption.
The Russian Defense Ministry stated that the operation targeted military and military-related sites as a response to what it described as Ukrainian acts. This comes after a stern warning from Russian President Vladimir Putin, communicated via U.S. President Donald Trump, following Ukrainian drone strikes that reportedly downed several strategic bomber aircraft deep in Russia.
