Solemn Farewell: Xu Qiliang Cremated in Beijing

In a solemn ceremony on Sunday in Beijing, the remains of China's former senior military official Xu Qiliang were cremated at the renowned Babaoshan Revolutionary Cemetery. Top leaders including Xi Jinping, Li Qiang, Zhao Leji, Wang Huning, Cai Qi, Ding Xuexiang, and Li Xi joined in the tribute. They walked slowly in a respectful silence, bowed three times, and personally extended their condolences to Xu's family. 🙏

Xu, who passed away on June 2 at the age of 75 due to illness, served with distinction as a member of the Political Bureau of the 18th and 19th Central Committees and as vice chairman of the Central Military Commission. He was celebrated as a time-tested and loyal communist soldier, a skilled military strategist, and an outstanding leader of the People’s Liberation Army.

Additional figures such as Han Zheng and Hu Jintao also paid their respects—either by visiting Xu while he was in hospital or by sending condolences—underscoring the deep impact of his decades-long dedication. This heartfelt farewell is a reminder of the commitment and leadership that shaped his long career. 🕊
