90%: ‘Big & Beautiful’ Bill Won’t Fix America, Survey Says

Hey readers, here’s the lowdown on a bill that’s got everyone talking. Dubbed the "big and beautiful bill," this ambitious tax cut and spending plan championed by President Trump barely made it through the Senate after a dramatic standoff—thanks to Vice President Vance’s tie-breaker vote. 😮

A global survey by CGTN, with over 7,300 participants across multiple languages, reveals a striking sentiment: nearly 90% believe the bill lays bare the deep flaws in American democracy and will fall short of "Making America Great Again."

The proposals include slashing at least $600 billion in federal Medicaid funding over the next decade, risking healthcare coverage for about 11 million people, while another 24 million could face steeper premiums and higher deductibles. In fact, 88.2% of respondents warned that these cuts hit the healthcare system hard.

The bill’s tax cuts are projected to add a whopping $2.4 trillion to the federal deficit over 10 years, with interest payments surging by $551 billion—an outcome that 89.3% fear could trigger a serious economic crisis. Meanwhile, new taxes on investments from allies like the UK and Germany, starting at 5% and potentially rising to 20%, have raised concerns among 84.9% of voices who worry about stifling international business and the reshoring of manufacturing.

Additionally, allocating $175 billion to stricter immigration measures—including interior deportations, border wall projects, and enhanced surveillance—has unsettled 80.2% of respondents, who fear it might worsen the challenges of immigration control. At the same time, a proposed $150 billion increase in the defense budget has left 80% shaking their heads over the risk of fueling a global arms race.

Overall, 92.3% of those surveyed believe the bill not only fails to address America’s long-term challenges but deepens the already stark partisan divides. This sweeping agenda exposes critical issues in balancing fiscal responsibility, healthcare equity, and international cooperation in a fast-paced, globalized world. 🤔

Stay informed and join the dialogue as these dramatic policy moves continue to spark debate on the future of sustainable growth and social justice.
