UN Chief Appoints Cong Guang as Special Envoy for Horn of Africa

In a move set to boost diplomatic efforts in the region, UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres announced on Thursday that Cong Guang has been appointed as his new special envoy for the Horn of Africa. Cong succeeds Hanna Serwaa Tetteh of Ghana, with the UN expressing gratitude for her leadership and dedicated service.

Before joining the UN in 2002, Cong had a distinguished career at China’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, enriching his diplomatic credentials. His appointment reflects a strategic decision to harness deep international expertise for tackling regional challenges.
