Typhoon Wipha Threatens Vietnam’s North: Heavy Rain & Emergency Alert

Typhoon Wipha is set to shake up Vietnam's northern coast! As of early Tuesday, the storm was 60 km off Haiphong City with winds reaching 102 kph and moving southwest at 15 kph. 😮

In anticipation of heavy rains—forecast to be as much as 50 centimeters—authorities have mobilized nearly 350,000 soldiers and put coastal provinces on high alert for potential flooding and mudslides, especially around Hung Yen and Ninh Binh provinces. The typhoon is expected to weaken into a low-pressure system by Tuesday night.

Residents are staying cautious yet calm. A witness from Cat Ba Island in Haiphong mentioned, "We can still step outdoors this morning since the wind isn't too strong." However, transport disruptions are biting as airlines cancel and reschedule flights and some airport, port, and train services have been suspended.

This isn’t the first time the region has faced severe weather—last year, Typhoon Yagi left a mark with significant damage and loss. For young and active communities in South and Southeast Asia, these events are not only a reminder of nature's power but also an opportunity to come together, stay informed, and ensure safety! Stay alert and take care! ⚠️
