ASEAN Observer Group Monitors Ceasefire Zone

Hey everyone! In a refreshing turn towards peace, an ASEAN interim observer group ventured into conflict-hit zones along the Cambodia-Thailand border after a ceasefire kicked in. 🇰🇭🤝🇹🇭

The team, featuring Malaysia's military attaché (currently chairing ASEAN) along with assistant military attachés from Vietnam and the Philippines, is on a mission to ensure the ceasefire holds and tensions remain low.

Maly Socheata from Cambodia's Defense Ministry stated, "Cambodia stands ready to cooperate with the observation group led by Malaysia to monitor the implementation of the ceasefire."

For a quick recap: armed clashes erupted on July 24 between Cambodian and Thai soldiers in the border areas, leading both sides to agree on an immediate, unconditional ceasefire on July 28. This decisive move marks a major step towards restoring calm in the region.

Stay tuned for more updates as ASEAN works hand-in-hand with local authorities to keep the peace strong! ✌️
