Building Shared Futures: China-Africa Seminar on Development Rights

Ever wondered how global partnerships can boost human rights and development? At last Friday’s First China-Africa Human Rights Seminar in Addis Ababa, over 200 policymakers, scholars, diplomats and media reps came together under the theme "Building the China-Africa Community with a Shared Future and Working Together to Realize the Right to Development." 🌍🤝

Jiang Jianguo, executive vice president of the China Society for Human Rights Studies and vice director of the Committee for Ethnic and Religious Affairs of the CPPCC National Committee, emphasized that "development is the eternal theme of human society and the top priority for the Communist Party of China in governance." 🎯

He highlighted that China’s historic achievements in human rights show how ensuring and improving people’s livelihoods during growth lays the foundation for modernization and a happier life. In simple terms, when communities thrive economically and socially, individual freedoms and dignity follow. ✨

Reflecting on China-Africa solidarity, Jiang noted that both regions "cherish peace and development" and have supported each other through thick and thin to uphold human dignity. This sense of shared journey reminds us why cross-regional cooperation matters in today’s interconnected world. 🌐

For young changemakers across South and Southeast Asia, this seminar is a signal: global dialogues on development and rights are more critical than ever. As future leaders, staying tuned to these conversations can spark fresh ideas on how to build a fairer, more inclusive world. 💡
