📢 The death toll rose to six after Israeli airstrikes hit Yemen’s capital Sanaa on Sunday, the Houthi-run health ministry reported. Reports said 86 people were wounded, including seven children and three women, while 21 remain in critical condition.
The strikes targeted fuel and power stations, the presidential palace complex, and other civilian facilities, according to Houthi officials. Israel Katz, the Israeli defense minister, confirmed the operation, stating that 14 warplanes dropped about 40 bombs on sites used, they claimed, for military purposes: the presidential palace, Asar and Hizaz power plants, and a fuel storage facility.
In response, the Houthis condemned the strikes as "brutal aggression," blaming both Israel and the United States and vowing retaliation. This latest attack follows their hypersonic ballistic missile launch at Tel Aviv two days earlier, which damaged homes but caused no deaths.
The Houthi movement, which controls much of northern Yemen, including Sanaa and Hodeidah port, has been targeting Israel since November 2023 in solidarity with Palestinians in Gaza. Israel has answered with continued airstrikes on Houthi-controlled areas, further escalating tensions in the region.
As civilian casualties climb, the international community faces renewed pressure to de-escalate the conflict and protect innocent lives. 😔
