Russia’s Duma Chief Honors Soviet Pilots in Changchun

Remembering heroes of a bygone era, Vyacheslav Volodin, chair of Russia’s State Duma, visited Changchun’s People’s Square in the Chinese mainland to honor Soviet pilots who gave their lives in 1945.

He laid wreaths and flowers at a 27.5-meter-tall (about 90 ft) obelisk topped with a dive bomber model, then held a minute of silence. The five-tiered monument bears the names of 23 servicemen from the Transbaikal Front who sacrificed everything in the Changchun area between August and September 1945. ✈️🕊️

Volodin said this moment is not just about remembering the past; it’s a bridge for future collaboration. He stressed the need to step up cooperation to implement high-level decisions between Russia and the Chinese mainland—something that resonates with today’s global youth who value unity and progress. 🤝

For many in South and Southeast Asia, this tribute mirrors ongoing conversations about cherishing history while building tomorrow’s partnerships—whether in tech innovation, cultural exchange, or sustainable development. Honoring shared heritage can spark fresh ideas and friendships across borders. 🌏

Next time you spot a sleek warplane in a history book or museum, think of those names etched on this Changchun monument—and how remembrance can fuel a collective journey forward. 🔍
