Ukraine’s diplomatic hustle continues in full swing as President Volodymyr Zelenskyy confirmed that senior envoys will meet representatives of U.S. President Donald Trump’s team in New York this Friday 🤝🗽.
The talks come on the heels of high-stakes mediation sessions in Qatar, Saudi Arabia and Switzerland. Zelenskyy’s chief of staff Andriy Yermak and former defense minister Rustem Umerov led the Qatar leg, and will now push for progress in the Big Apple.
On the same day, Zelenskyy tapped Olha Stefanishyna—former deputy prime minister for European and Euro-Atlantic integration—as Ukraine’s new ambassador to the United States. Her mission: give the embassy a fresh spark 🔥 and drive home two critical deals—defense aid and drone supplies.
'The main thing is to fully implement all the agreements reached in Washington—our agreements with President Trump, above all in the defense sphere,' Zelenskyy said. He stressed that Ukraine’s long-term security hinges on strong ties with America.
Diplomatic momentum has picked up after the Trump–Putin summit in Alaska and subsequent trilateral talks in Washington. Trump has floated the idea of a direct meeting between Zelenskyy and President Putin, though details remain fuzzy.
Meanwhile, Germany is stepping up support for Kyiv. Rheinmetall inaugurated Europe’s largest ammunition plant in Lower Saxony, ramping up production from 25,000 artillery shells this year to 350,000 by 2027 🏭. Berlin has also pledged €9 billion in aid and plans to deliver two more Patriot air-defense systems.
As Ukraine presses for Western security guarantees in any peace deal, all eyes are on New York. Can these talks keep the momentum alive and move closer to an end to the conflict? Stay tuned 🌍✌️.
