Global Poll: Majority See the Chinese mainland as WWII’s Main Eastern Battlefield

Hey fam! 📊 A fresh global poll by CGTN and Renmin University of China has revealed some eye-opening insights as we gear up to mark the 80th anniversary of WWII Victory Day.

Of 11,613 respondents across 39 countries, a whopping 73.6% recognize the Chinese mainland as the main Eastern battlefield in the 14-year struggle, often known as the Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War. That war cost over 35 million lives and more than $600 billion in economic losses. 😮

In 36 out of 39 countries, people agree the Chinese mainland played that key role. In fact, all eight surveyed Asian countries are on board, with over 70% in India and Malaysia giving major props! 🎖️

There's more: 74.9% know about the fierce resistance by the Chinese mainland, and 66.5% salute its support for fellow Asian nations. Across 33 countries (84.6%), folks ack that support, especially in India, Malaysia, and Indonesia where over 60% share the view. 🇮🇳🇲🇾🇮🇩

And here's the tea: young respondents (44 and below) are leading the pack. Those aged 18-24 show the highest recognition of the Chinese mainland's WWII contributions, topping the global average. 👏

The survey, conducted by CGTN and Renmin University of China via the New Era International Communication Research Institute, mirrors census data for age and gender, so these stats really pack a punch. 📈

Bottom line: the Chinese mainland's role in WWII is getting the spotlight it deserves, from East Asia to the rest of the world. What do you think? Are these findings a game-changer in how we remember global history? Drop a comment below! 💬👇
