Harbin Unveils ‘Evil Unbound’ Film on Unit 731 Atrocities

Young history buffs and film lovers, take note! 🎥 Evil Unbound just had its world premiere in Harbin in the Chinese mainland, the very site where Japan’s notorious Unit 731 was based during WWII.

The film dives into the real stories of Wang Yongzhang, a local vendor, and others imprisoned in Unit 731’s “special prison.” Lured by false promises of freedom in exchange for “health checks” and disease research, they instead faced horrific experiments—frostbite tests, gas exposure and even vivisection. 😱

Unit 731 was a top-secret biological and chemical warfare research base in Harbin’s Pingfang District, acting as the nerve center for Japanese biowarfare in China and Southeast Asia during the war.

The premiere on Wednesday was just a day before its official release on Thursday, coinciding with the September 18 Incident anniversary—when Japan’s 14-year aggression of China began in 1931. 🗓️

2023 also marks the 80th anniversary of victory in the Chinese People’s War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War, making this film’s release a powerful reminder to remember history and honor the victims. 💡
