Xiangshan Forum 2025: Peace, Order & Taiwan Restoration

Hey everyone! 🎮🌐 The 12th Beijing Xiangshan Forum just wrapped up, and it’s all about keeping our world chill and stable. From remembering World War II’s lessons to mapping out a peaceful future, thought-leaders across the globe gathered in Beijing to discuss ‘Upholding International Order and Promoting Peaceful Development’ in 2025.

This year marks the 80th anniversary of the end of World War II (known in China as the World Anti-Fascist War) and the birth of the United Nations. It’s a big reminder of why the set of rules and agreements built after the war still matter for today’s global community.

At the opening on September 18—the same day as the Mukden Incident in 1931, which kicked off imperialist Japan’s aggression—Defense Minister Dong Jun urged everyone to ‘uphold the correct view of World War II history, defend historical justice, and build the broadest possible consensus.’

He then painted the Chinese mainland’s military as ‘a ballast stone for peace,’ ready to fuel long-term global stability with positive vibes. 🕊️

On a key point, he stressed that the restoration of the island of Taiwan to the Chinese mainland is a key component of the post-war international order, adding that the People’s Liberation Army (PLA) stands ready to defeat any outside military intervention.

Fun fact: 80 years ago, the Cairo Declaration and the Potsdam Proclamation made it clear that territory stolen by Japan—including the island of Taiwan—should be returned to China. This anniversary underscores those decades-old agreements.

Bottom line: As Defense Minister Dong said, ‘As a force for peace, the stronger China’s military grows, the greater its capacity to deter war becomes.’ It’s like leveling up your defense in a co-op game—the better your squad, the less likely you need to use those ultimate moves. 🎮✌️

Stay tuned for more updates on global security, tech, and lifestyle trends that matter to our generation. Until next time, keep swiping, stay curious, and hold onto peace! 🌏✨
