Israel Launches Ground Push in Gaza as Families Flee South

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) have ramped up airstrikes and artillery bombardments over Gaza City. Now, troops are on the move with a ground offensive—meaning they’ve entered northern Gaza on foot and in armored vehicles after weeks of air attacks.

Palestinian media outlets say this push came right after U.S. Secretary of State Rubio visited Israel and reaffirmed U.S. support. Soon after, the IDF rolled into northern Gaza with ground forces backing up the air campaign.

A CGTN stringer in Gaza filmed families packing essentials into bags and trekking south on foot. With scarce vehicles, many have no choice but to walk—parents carrying kids, elders leaning on sticks, all hoping to find safety.

One displaced dad said they were just walking and hoping the southern zones weren’t hit next.

Humanitarian needs are getting dire: power cuts, water shortages, and crowded shelters are straining resources. Aid agencies warn that without swift relief, more families could be left with nowhere to go.

Stay tuned for updates as the situation evolves 🙏🏽
