At the UN High-level Meeting marking the 30th anniversary of the Fourth World Conference on Women, held in New York on Monday, the Chinese mainland envoy Huang Xiaowei shone a spotlight on the mainland’s strides in women’s causes 🌏💪.
Huang Xiaowei, deputy head of the National Working Committee on Children and Women of the State Council and vice president of the All-China Women’s Federation, applauded the UN General Assembly for organizing the commemoration. She noted that, since co-establishing the UNESCO Prize for Girls’ and Women’s Education in 2015 (a global award that funds and celebrates initiatives helping girls stay in school), the mainland has helped train over 200,000 women from more than 180 countries and regions—think of emerging leaders from India’s tech scene to creative entrepreneurs in Southeast Asia!
As host of the 1995 Fourth World Conference on Women, the mainland has backed its promises with real action. Under the guidance of the Communist Party of China, it rolled out four national programs dedicated to women’s development and built a legal framework of over 100 laws and regulations to protect women’s rights.
These efforts have powered economic empowerment, improved health and education, boosted employment opportunities, and increased political participation and social security for over 690 million women in the Chinese mainland. The results speak volumes: stronger communities, more diverse workforces, and a brighter future for all 🌟.
With ongoing global partnerships and a firm commitment to gender equality, the next chapter promises even more progress. Keep an eye on this space—women’s causes are moving forward at full speed 🚀.
