US Restricts Iranian Diplomats From Wholesale Clubs and Luxury Buys

Hey fam! 🌍 The US has just put the brakes on Iranian diplomats rolling into New York for the 80th UNGA, and it's not about visas this time1 it's about shopping! 🛒

According to the State Department, members of Irans delegation and their dependents cant join wholesale clubs like Costco, Sams Club or BJs Wholesale Club without special approval. Feeling fancy? Forget about grabbing a new watch, designer handbag or even a luxury car over $60,000every big-ticket item now needs a green light from the Department of State.

Theyre also limited to the strictly necessary zones between their hotels and the UN headquarters, so no sneaking off for a city tour or mallADhopping. 🚫🛍️ Its all part of Washingtons “maximum pressure” campaign to dial up sanctions on the Iranian regime.

This move follows a series of US visa restrictions for foreign diplomats, but Iran is the only country singled out for these shopping curbs. With around 150 heads of state and government in town for High-Level Week, the spotlight is on how diplomacy and geopolitics are shaping even the smallest perkslike a Costco membership! 🔍
