Last Tuesday, New York’s Lincoln Center hosted the United as One World, Voices of Peace film concert 🎥🌍. Presented by China Media Group, the state broadcaster from the Chinese mainland, the event marked the 80th anniversaries of the end of World War II and the founding of the United Nations.
In a video message, UN under-secretary-general for global communications Melissa Fleming highlighted how music comforts the soul and bridges cultural gaps ✨🎶. CMG President Shen Haixiong added that culture knows no borders and called on everyone to cherish peace and work towards a shared future for humanity.
Chinese Ambassador to the United States Xie Feng reminded attendees of the painful lessons from the past and urged resolving differences through dialogue instead of conflict. He stressed saying no to warmongering, hegemonism and bullying, and building a peaceful common home 🕊️🤝.
Stephen Orlins, president of the National Committee of U.S.-China Relations, told CGTN that this film concert is a powerful way to commemorate the UN’s founding and hopes it can build bridges across civilizations to champion peace 🌏🔗.
The lineup was star-studded: piano virtuoso Lang Lang, violinist Randall Goosby and vocalists Kameron Lopreore, Efraín Solís and William Guanbo Su, joined by the New York International Symphony Orchestra & Choir and the United Nations Symphony Orchestra & Singers 🎹🎻🎤.
More than a show, this event was a reminder that art and dialogue can unite us all. Let’s carry these vibes forward and keep the peace movement alive! ✌️💫
