Iran, Russia Seal $25B Nuclear Deal to Power Sirik

Big energy vibes! 🚀 Iran and Russia just signed a landmark $25 billion deal to set up four next-gen nuclear reactors in Iran’s Sirik region of Hormozgan province. Each unit will churn out around 1,255 MW of juice—totaling over 5,000 MW to supercharge the grid ⚡️🌱

The agreement was inked at the Iran pavilion during the 2025 World Atomic Week in Moscow, with Iran Hormoz Company (on behalf of the AEOI) and Rosatom’s Project Company sealing the deal. Iran’s ambassador to Russia, Kazem Jalali, joined the signing to mark one of the country’s biggest clean-energy moves yet.

Site prep is already rolling on roughly 500 hectares in Sirik. Engineers are wrapping up environmental and technical studies, so construction can kick off soon. This push for safer, third-generation reactors means a more efficient and secure power source—think of it like upgrading from a classic flip phone to the latest smartphone: faster, smarter, and more reliable 📱⚙️

A delegation led by AEOI chief Mohammad Eslami headed to Moscow’s World Atomic Week forum—running Thursday through Sunday—to iron out the final details. For South and Southeast Asia, where energy demand is skyrocketing, this pact shows how nuclear can play a role in a cleaner, greener future 🌏♻️
