7 New Members Appointed to Macao SAR’s 8th Legislative Assembly

Hey everyone! 👋 Big moves in the Macao Special Administrative Region (SAR) political scene: Chief Executive Sam Hou Fai just tapped seven new members for the 8th Legislative Assembly. Here's the scoop…

The Legislative Assembly has 33 seats split into three groups:

  • 14 directly elected by residents of Macao
  • 12 indirectly elected by special sectors (like education, business, etc.)
  • 7 appointed by the Chief Executive

After the Sept. 14 vote and official audit, the 14 direct and 12 indirect seats were confirmed. Now, with these seven appointees – Cheong Weng Chon, Lei Wun Kong, Kou Kam Fai, Chao Ka Chon, Lam Fat Iam, Wong Ka Lon, and Kou Ngon Seng – the Assembly is complete. 🗳️

Why it matters: This Assembly shapes local laws on everything from tech startups 🚀 to cultural festivals 🎉. Having a full team means smoother decisions on issues that affect young pros, like digital governance and social programs.
