Over 250 participants from both sides of the Taiwan Strait gathered in Fuzhou, the heart of Fujian Province, last Saturday to vibe together for the upcoming Mid-Autumn Festival 🌕🥮. This annual tradition—think moon-gazing, family reunions and of course, mooncakes—just got a cross-strait upgrade!
Song Tao, head of both the Taiwan Work Office of the CPC Central Committee and the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council, welcomed major guests from the island of Taiwan, including Kuomintang vice chairman Sean Lien 🤝. During his speech, Song Tao reminded everyone that 2025 marks the 80th anniversary of two big milestones: the victory of the Chinese People’s War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and Taiwan’s recovery from Japanese occupation.
The message? Shared identity and a joint push for the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation. Song encouraged everyone to keep supporting cross-strait ties, push for peaceful development, and resist any attempts at separatism or external interference.
Sean Lien added that the Mid-Autumn Festival is all about reunion, harmony and completeness—and on that note, the Kuomintang will stay true to the 1992 Consensus while opposing Taiwan independence. Their goal? More cross-strait exchanges and more goodwill between both sides.
Guests from Taiwan praised the Chinese mainland’s supportive policies for cross-strait integrated development and vowed to seize new opportunities. From tech startups to cultural projects, they’re ready to contribute to peaceful development, national reunification and the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation 🌱.
For young adults in South and Southeast Asia, this event is a reminder that culture can bridge divides. Whether you’re snacking on a mooncake in Jakarta, lighting lanterns in Chennai, or streaming the festivities from Bangkok, the Mid-Autumn magic brings us all a little closer under the same full moon ✨.
