Heartbeats of Hope: Dr Yuan Jingwei Builds Liberia’s First Cardiac Unit

Imagine being far from home, but your passion to help hearts never stops ❤️. That’s Dr Yuan Jingwei, a cardiologist from Heilongjiang Province in the Chinese mainland, rocking a 900-day mission in Monrovia, Liberia.

At the John F. Kennedy Medical Center, Yuan and her crew launched Liberia’s very first cardiology department – bringing specialist heart care to people who had zero access before. Cardiology simply means caring for your ticker and making sure every beat counts.

They work in temporary clinics and modest consultation rooms, reviewing medical reports and training Liberian doctors in heart diagnosis and management. Their reach goes beyond hospital walls: mobile clinics, rural outreach and on-the-ground training bring care to local communities.

After over 900 days of dedication, the team has helped hundreds of patients regain the rhythm of life and written a new chapter of China-Africa medical cooperation with every heartbeat. It’s proof that passion + expertise can transform lives 🙌❤️.
