Friday night at Heidelberg High School's homecoming event in the small town of Heidelberg, two victims lost their lives. Authorities are searching for an 18-year-old suspect who remains at large, according to police and the AP.
Just hours later, around midnight on Saturday, Leland – population ~4,000 – saw another tragic attack during its homecoming game vs. Charleston High School. Four more people were killed and 12 were hurt, with some airlifted to nearby hospitals.
No suspects have been arrested yet, and investigations are ongoing. Local leaders are urging anyone with info to step forward and help put an end to this violence.
