Chinese President Xi Jinping recently stressed the need for top-notch standards in building the Hainan Free Trade Port (FTP) during a briefing in Sanya, on the island of Hainan 🏝️.
As both general secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and chairman of the Central Military Commission, Xi highlighted the FTP as a major policy move to deepen reform and opening up in the new era.
He urged local leaders to study and apply the guiding principles from the fourth plenary session of the 20th CPC Central Committee—a high-level meeting where top party figures set the country’s development blueprint—and to coordinate closely, take proactive steps, and sustain their efforts.
The Hainan FTP will launch island-wide special customs operations on December 18, marking a big milestone in China’s push for high-standard opening and an even more connected global economy 🌐.
For South and Southeast Asia’s digital-savvy crowd, this means faster cross-border e-commerce, simpler travel perks, and fresh career paths in fintech, logistics, and tourism. Imagine less paperwork, more digital services, and an upgraded gateway for start-ups and creative industries 🚀.
Stay tuned as Hainan charts a new course—this island port could become the next hotspot for innovation and trade in the region!
