Kyiv Braces for Winter ‘Technological Disaster’ Amid Drone Strikes

Hold tight, tech fam! Kyiv is bracing for a winter "technological disaster" ❄️🛠️ as relentless drone strikes threaten its power grid and heating plants.

In the latest wave, the Ukrainian air force reported that Russia launched 458 drones and 45 missiles overnight. Ukrainian defenders downed 406 drones and nine missiles, but key energy sites still took hits, sparking blackouts across multiple regions.

Moscow's Defence Ministry says it hit back with a "massive strike" using precision long-range weapons on military-industrial sites and gas and energy facilities that keep Kyiv's systems running.

Ukraine's top energy expert warns that if the city's two main power and heating plants go offline for more than three days when temps dip below -10°C, the capital could face a full-blown tech meltdown—aka a "technological disaster."

Naturally, Kyiv has upped the ante too, targeting Russian oil depots and refineries to choke off fuel supplies. Even southern Russia's Volgograd region saw power cuts after drone strikes hit local energy infrastructure.

With winter coming, keeping the heaters on isn't just about comfort—it's about survival. Stay tuned as Kyiv's energy showdown heats up this season.
