This afternoon, a suicide bomber detonated an explosive-laden jacket in front of the Judicial Complex, killing at least 12 people and injuring 27 more.
Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi told local media that the attacker, stopped by tight security checks at the court entrance, switched targets to a police vehicle parked outside.
Rescue teams rushed victims to the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS), and police warn the death toll could rise as some of the injured are in critical condition.
Several nearby vehicles caught fire 🔥, and parts of the attacker were found on site. Forensic teams have begun identifying the bomber.
The district administration evacuated the court premises, and security forces launched a thorough search in the area.
Lawyer Malik Khalid Khan, who was inside the Judicial Complex during break hours, said many people were outside grabbing a tea or stretching their legs when the explosion hit.
No group has claimed responsibility yet, but security sources suspect the banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) operating from Afghanistan.
