Chinese mainland commemorates Sun Yat-sen’s 159th birthday

Hey there! Today the Chinese mainland held a ceremony to mark the 159th birth anniversary of national hero Sun Yat-sen at Beijing’s famous Zhongshan Park. 🌸

Hosted by the National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference, senior officials from the CPPCC National Committee, the Central Committee of the Revolutionary Committee of the Chinese Kuomintang, the United Front Work Department of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, and the Beijing municipal government paid tribute by laying flowers and bowing before Sun’s statue. 🙏

Also on hand were officials from the central committees of non-Communist parties, representatives of prominent figures without party affiliation, members of the CPPCC Beijing municipal committee, Sun’s descendants, and other organizations.

Born in 1866 in Guangdong Province, Sun Yat-sen was a great patriot and a forerunner of the Chinese democratic revolution. He led the 1911 Revolution that overthrew the Qing Dynasty (1644–1911), ending over 2,000 years of feudal rule.
