In Kunshan, Jiangsu Province, Judge Zhao Yating uses an AI assistant to sort files, highlight key legal questions and even draft over 70% of judgments with one click. While humans still fine-tune the language, the tech boost has made hearings faster, more transparent and backed by solid data-driven logic.
Internet Courts Go Fully Online
Since 2017, Hangzhou’s internet court led the way, followed by Beijing and Guangzhou in 2018. In 2023 alone, these courts handled 70,635 cases entirely online—from filing to ruling. Remote hearings hit 99.7% and electronic service 88.2%, outpacing many traditional courts in speed and user satisfaction.
Big Data Supervision for Stronger Oversight
By November 2024, China’s top procuratorate rolled out over 6,000 big-data legal supervision models, spotting 600,000 potential case leads and recovering more than 10 billion yuan in losses. With 580+ replicable models on the national platform, this system reshapes how legal supervision works across criminal, civil and public interest cases.
