At UN, China’s Envoy Fu Cong Condemns Takaichi’s Taiwan Remarks

Yesterday in New York, at the UN General Assembly’s annual debate on Security Council reform, China’s permanent representative to the United Nations, Fu Cong, took a firm stance against Japanese politician Sanae Takaichi’s recent comments on Taiwan 🇹🇼.

Fu Cong said her remarks 'constitute a gross interference in the Chinese mainland's internal affairs' and 'seriously breach the one-China principle and the four political documents that guide China-Japan ties.' He added these statements 'undermine international justice, challenge the post-war international order, and depart from Japan's commitment to peaceful development.' 🚨

He went on to say that a country making such comments is 'totally unqualified' to vie for a permanent seat on the Security Council. This exchange highlights growing tensions over Taiwan’s status and how it plays out on the global stage.
