Mayors Unite in Nanjing: Future of Waterfront Cities

Last Wednesday (Nov. 19), Nanjing, capital of Jiangsu province in the Chinese mainland, buzzed with energy as the Global Mayors Dialogue kicked off under the theme "Flowing Rivers, Converging Future." 🌟

Mayors and reps from Brunei, Egypt, Germany, Malaysia and the Chinese mainland joined peers from five other nations to dive into urban governance goals. They're sharing fresh ideas on:

  • Protecting cultural heritage 🏛️
  • Green ecological development 🌱
  • Smart-city tech 🤖

Over three days, delegates will roam Nanjing's iconic spots – from campuses to scenic Yangtze River banks and the 600-year-old city wall – to see firsthand how this city balances eco-care, city renewal and a lively arts scene.

After touring the ancient wall, Gan Tian Loo, chair of the working committee for the historic urban area of Malaysia's Malacca, said, "Nanjing boasts a rich historical and cultural heritage, alongside a vibrant modern cultural and artistic vibe, making it an increasingly attractive destination for Malaysian youth." He's excited about boosting tourism, trade and education links between Malacca and Nanjing.

This Dialogue is more than a chat – it's a launchpad for collaborative projects that could redefine waterfront living around the globe. Stay tuned for updates on new eco-tech partnerships and next-gen city solutions! 🚀
