Fire Halts COP30 Talks in Belem; Chinese Pavilion Unharmed

Hey fam! Yesterday a fire suddenly broke out at COP30's venue in Belem, Brazil, sending a plume of smoke through the halls. 😮‍💨

The Chinese delegation confirmed their pavilion was completely unharmed, and the blaze didn't start there. Thanks to quick action, the fire was under control in around 30 minutes, says Brazilian Minister of Tourism Celso Sabino. 🔥✅

Unfortunately, 13 people were treated for smoke inhalation, but no serious injuries were reported. Para state Governor Helder Barbalho says investigators are looking into whether a generator glitch or short circuit in a temporary structure sparked the incident.

Climate negotiators have been racing against time this week to reach a deal on boosting climate finance (the funds that support green projects) and shifting away from fossil fuels. The summit was meant to wrap up today, but it still hasn't hit its mid-week deadline to secure agreement among nearly 200 countries. ⏳🌍

Despite the scare, talks are back on track and the energy on the floor is as high as ever. Stay tuned for the latest updates from COP30! 🚀
