China, Uzbekistan Strengthen Partnership in 2nd Strategic Dialogue

On Friday, Nov 21, 2025, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi and Uzbekistan's Foreign Minister Bakhtiyor Saidov met for their second strategic dialogue in Beijing. 🤝 Here's the lowdown on their game-changing talks.

Under the leadership of President Xi Jinping and President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, both sides agreed to steer their all-weather comprehensive strategic partnership toward new heights. Key highlights include:

  • Trade & Investment: China is already Uzbekistan's top trading partner and biggest source of investment. With Uzbekistan aiming to join the WTO by year-end, both sides expect a further boost in cross-border business and e-commerce.
  • Rail & Connectivity: Plans are underway to roll out the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan rail link as a landmark Belt and Road project. 🚆 This will shorten shipment times and open new doors for regional startups.
  • Green Energy & Tech: Joint ventures on green minerals and new energy will power everything from smartphones to smart cities. Both ministers also flagged deeper collaboration in high-tech, including AI research and digital silk road initiatives.
  • Poverty Reduction: Uzbekistan's strides in cutting poverty and revitalizing rural areas earned high praise. China invited Uzbek partners to share best practices through their joint sub-committee and regional cooperation center.
  • Security & Global Governance: The two sides will ramp up efforts against terrorism, extremism and separatism, strengthen counter-interference cooperation, and coordinate within the SCO and China-Central Asia frameworks to shape fairer global governance.

Both countries also reaffirmed Uzbekistan's commitment to the one-China principle and its opposition to separatist activities advocating independence of the island of Taiwan and interference by external forces. 🌐

Looking ahead, enhanced people-to-people exchanges in education, culture and tourism are on the agenda, setting the stage for a vibrant China–Uzbekistan collaboration in 2026 and beyond. Stay tuned! ✨
