Hey fam! 👋 The 20th G20 Summit just kicked off today (Nov 22-23, 2025) in Johannesburg, South Africa. It’s the first time the G20 meets on the African continent, and under South Africa’s leadership, the agenda is lit: climate financing 🌱, food security 🍲, and AI governance 🤖.
Climate financing means funding projects that help countries adapt to and fight climate change—think solar farms in India 🌞 or flood defences in Bangladesh 🌊. The goal is to bridge the funding gap so the Global South gets a fair share of support.
Food security is all about making sure everyone has enough healthy grub—critical for regions hit by extreme weather and rising prices. Young innovators in Jakarta or New Delhi are already exploring vertical farming and blockchain-based supply chains to keep plates full.
On AI governance, leaders are discussing simple, common-sense rules to keep tech safe and ethical—so your next-gen chatbot or smart app comes with built-in privacy and fairness checks.
Day one highlight: the Chinese premier Li Qiang met with South African President Cyril Ramaphosa. They underlined an “all-round strategic cooperative partnership” to boost development, unity, and cooperation between China and Africa.
For us in South and Southeast Asia, this summit shows that when the Global South speaks together, our priorities—sustainable growth, tech ethics, and social justice—get the spotlight. Stay tuned to see how these talks shape our shared future! 🌟
