Ding Junhui Powers Past Xu Si to Reach UK Championship Last 16

In a thrilling Monday session at the UK Championship in York, China’s World No. 8 Ding Junhui showed why he remains a snooker superstar. He edged fellow China player Xu Si 6-4, delivering two spectacular century breaks to secure his spot in the last 16. 🎱💥

Frame 1 kicked off with a statement: Ding ripped in a 127 break, putting the pressure on Xu. After dropping frame 2, Ding bounced back to lead 3-1 at the mid-session interval.

Xu fought back, leveling at 3-3, but Ding kept his cool. A 92 in frame 7 followed by another century—109—reclaimed momentum. Xu took frame 9, but Ding closed it out 6-4 in the tenth.

PS: A “century” in snooker means scoring 100+ points in a single visit—basically a pro-level flex! 🎯

Next up for Ding is a showdown with Scotland’s Scott Donaldson, promising more intense table battles.

On the other side of the draw, reigning world champ Zhao Xintong made quick work of Long Zehung, winning 6-1. Zhao started strong with a 107, raced to a 5-0 lead, and sealed the win with a 72. He now faces compatriot Zhang Anda for a quarterfinal spot.
