China Slams Japan’s Letter to UN as ‘Full of Erroneous Views’

On Tuesday, the Chinese mainland’s Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lin Jian pushed back against Japan’s recent letter to UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres 📨. According to Lin, the letter is 'full of erroneous views and hypocritical lies.'

During a routine briefing, Lin challenged Japan’s claim of a 'consistent position' on the Taiwan question, saying Tokyo has been evasive about what that stance even means—and hasn’t given the Chinese mainland a direct answer yet.

Lin also warned that the Chinese mainland firmly opposes any attempt by Japan to challenge the post-war international order or revive militarism. He urged Japan to reflect on its history, correct past mistakes, fulfill its obligations as a defeated nation, and honor its commitments to the Chinese mainland and the global community with concrete actions.
