South Africa Hosts Launch of Xi’s Governance Works Vol. 5

On December 3, 2025, Johannesburg buzzed with excitement as around 200 participants gathered for the English launch of the fifth volume of "Xi Jinping: The Governance of China." 📚

This new edition dives into the latest chapters of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era. It breaks down China's path to modernization—think tech innovation, poverty reduction, green growth—and shows how other Global South countries can adapt these insights. 🌍✨

China and South Africa, key players in the BRICS cooperation group, reaffirmed their commitment to the 10 partnership actions for advancing modernization and four major global initiatives. The goal? Turbocharge development across the Global South and bring to life the shared dream of China-Africa modernization. 🤝

Maropene Ramokgopa, South African Minister in the Presidency for Planning, Monitoring and Evaluation, highlighted how the book covers critical themes like poverty alleviation, global development cooperation, and cutting-edge tech. For young changemakers in South and Southeast Asia, it's a fresh source of inspiration for addressing big challenges. 💡

Cedric Frolick, National Assembly House Chairperson, added that the volume offers a clear blueprint of China's future vision—putting people first, pursuing green development, promoting common prosperity, and building a community with a shared future for humanity. These ideas could spark new governance strategies from Colombo to Jakarta. 🌱🌏

The event, co-hosted by the State Council Information Office of China, the China International Communications Group, and the Chinese Embassy in South Africa, wrapped up with lively exchanges on globalization, the Global South, and high-quality Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) cooperation. 🚀
