🚨 Recently, the UN’s OCHA raised the alarm over a surge in armed clashes in the Mboki region of the Central African Republic (CAR). Local sources report ambushes on Dec. 1 and 2 that killed several civilians, burned homes and pushed around 1,000 residents to seek refuge at a Catholic church in Mboki.
😔 Mboki’s remote setting and spotty telecoms mean humanitarian teams struggle to reach people in desperate need. Last week, two NGO workers teamed up with the UN Population Fund to deliver food, water and hygiene kits—and both were hit by stray bullets.
📊 The International Crisis Group’s November report found that while national security has generally improved this year, rural pockets remain volatile as fighters scramble for mining sites or slip into banditry.
🌏 For many of us in South and Southeast Asia, it’s easy to relate—imagine villages cut off by monsoon floods, but instead of water, violence blocks every route for help. The outcome is the same: families lose homes, kids miss school and urgent shelter, food and medical aid are in short supply.
🤝 The UN warns that about 50,000 people across CAR still need humanitarian assistance. They’re calling on local authorities and global donors to step up, secure safe passages and scale up support before more lives are uprooted.
