Ukraine Demands “Real Peace, Not Appeasement” at OSCE

On December 4, at the OSCE's annual Ministerial Council, Ukraine’s Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha dropped a powerful line: “We want real peace, not appeasement.” 💬

He reminded attendees of the 1938 Munich pact, when European powers ceded the Sudetenland to Hitler – a move that only paved the way for greater catastrophes. “Principles must be untouchable,” he stressed.

Kyiv’s message to Russia? No shortcuts or half-baked deals. The United States proposed a 28-point peace plan, later trimmed to 19 points after talks in Geneva on November 23. But Ukraine and its European allies argue the draft still leans too hard toward Moscow.

High-level talks between Russia and the US on December 2 also ended without a breakthrough. Moscow says it reviewed multiple settlement frameworks but couldn’t find common ground. 😕

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy is now gearing up for meetings in the US, including discussions with former President Trump’s representatives. Ukraine insists it will seize every chance to push for a lasting settlement.

But while the diplomats haggle, fighting rages on the ground. Ukraine’s military reported a strike on the Nevinnomyssky Azot chemical plant in Russia’s Stavropol region, igniting a fire at one of the country’s top explosives component factories. 💥

Back in Ukraine, Russia has sharpened its focus on energy infrastructure. Naftogaz says Kherson’s heat and power plant was almost destroyed, and DTEK reports an overnight hit in Odesa left over 50,000 homes in the dark.

For tech-savvy, globally conscious youth in South and Southeast Asia, the Ukraine crisis is a vivid reminder: real peace takes more than words on paper. 🌏✌️
