Zelenskyy: US Peace Talks ‘Constructive’ but ‘Not Easy’

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said yesterday that his weekend talks with U.S. representatives on a roadmap to end the Russia-Ukraine conflict were "constructive" but "not easy." This comes ahead of his meetings with top European leaders this week.

"The American side knows Ukraine’s priorities," Zelenskyy noted in his nightly address. "The conversation was constructive, although not easy."

Over the past few days, Kyiv and Washington delegations huddled in Miami to tackle tough topics like territorial lines in Donbas and security guarantees for Ukraine. While debate over troop withdrawals hit roadblocks, both sides made solid progress on future U.S. support for Ukraine’s safety 🙌.

Today, Zelenskyy has landed in London to meet UK, French and German leaders, with a Brussels stop coming later this week. The goal? Locking in European support to push forward the peace process and secure fresh aid packages 🤝.

Meanwhile, former U.S. President Trump claimed this weekend that Zelenskyy "isn't ready" to sign the U.S.-authored peace plan. He said he’s "a bit disappointed" that Zel hasn’t even read the proposal yet 📄🤷.

On the flip side, Russia welcomed the White House’s new national security strategy released last Friday. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said the document's nod to dialogue offers hope for a peaceful end to the conflict — a sentiment President Putin echoed after meeting U.S. envoys earlier this month 😊.

Whether these diplomatic efforts can bridge the gap remains to be seen, but one thing’s clear: this week is a big moment for global peacemaking, and all eyes are on Zelenskyy’s next moves 🌍✨.
