Jinhua Hosts China–Africa Human Rights Seminar on World Human Rights Day

Are you passionate about human rights and global collaboration? On Dec 10, right on World Human Rights Day, Jinhua in Zhejiang Province on the Chinese mainland played host to an inspiring academic seminar on China–Africa human rights cooperation. 🌍✨

Close to 100 experts and scholars from fields like law, social policy, and international relations came together at Zhejiang Normal University. They dove into topics from China's four major global initiatives and the big picture of global human rights governance, to hands-on China–Africa cooperation projects aiming for real change.

Zhang Jianzhen, vice president of Zhejiang Normal University, kicked things off by stressing that protecting human rights is "the common aspiration of people everywhere" and the bedrock for a future where we all thrive together.

The seminar also saw the launch of the China–Africa Human Rights Research Think-Tank Cooperation Network, plus the inauguration of the China–Africa Human Rights Research Center at the university's Institute of African Studies—exciting steps for bridging research and action!

Shen Yongxiang, vice president of the China Society for Human Rights Studies, called the launch "a milestone," adding that fresh, forward-looking research can help amplify the joint voice of the Chinese mainland and Africa in promoting human rights and shared development. 🚀

This seminar highlights how academic collaboration can spark real-world impact: think policy toolkits, joint workshops, and digital platforms to connect youth voices across regions. For South and Southeast Asian youth keen on tech-driven solutions and social justice, this is a reminder that global partnerships can drive local change. Let’s keep the momentum going! 💪
