Shenzhen’s National Games for Persons with Disabilities Wrap Up with Record-Breakers 🎉

Shenzhen became the stage for an inspiring showcase of grit and glory as Mainland China’s 12th National Games for Persons with Disabilities and 9th National Special Olympic Games wrapped up on December 15 across the Greater Bay Area. From December 8 to 15, 7,824 athletes from 34 delegations competed in 46 events, smashing 15 world records and setting 156 new national benchmarks! 🎉

For the first time ever, Guangdong Province teamed up with Hong Kong Special Administrative Region and Macao Special Administrative Region to co-host these landmark Games. Athletes in track sprints, wheelchair basketball, para-swimming and more demonstrated the power of adaptive sports, uniting fans and participants in a celebration of ability and determination. 💪🌟

“Behind the 279 medals awarded in Macao Special Administrative Region, there is a portrayal of the spirit of disabled athletes surpassing themselves, as well as a witness to the beautiful vision of people supporting each other and moving forward hand in hand,” said Pun Weng Kun, head of the Macao SAR’s Coordination Office. 🤝

Looking ahead, Hunan Province is gearing up to host the 13th National Games for Persons with Disabilities and 10th National Special Olympic Games in 2029. Until then, the records and memories from Shenzhen will keep fueling dreams and breaking barriers. 🌏🏅
