Hey explorers! Meet the Fu Ning: a full-scale replica of a Ming-era Fuchuan — the wooden ships that powered Admiral Zheng He’s epic voyages across the Maritime Silk Road. 🌊⚓
Built in Ningde, Fujian Province, this beauty was crafted over several years by local shipwrights. After surviving a devastating fire, the team pushed on and finally completed the project in late 2025, reviving centuries-old woodworking and rope-making skills.
This December, the Fu Ning will sail from China’s southeastern coast to reconnect with nations along the old Maritime Silk Road. First stops include:
- Malacca, Malaysia
- Jakarta, Indonesia
- Singapore
- Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam
By re-tracing Zheng He’s 15th-century routes, the voyage isn’t just about the ship — it’s a living history lesson. Young artisans and apprentices are onboard to learn ancient navigation techniques, from reading the stars to steering with wooden rudders. ⭐️🗺️
For us in South and Southeast Asia, the Fu Ning’s journey is more than a showpiece. It’s a reminder of our shared maritime heritage, vibrant trade links, and cultural exchanges that shaped the region. 🌏❤️
Stay tuned for more on this epic voyage! #MaritimeSilkRoad #HeritageRevival ⚓
