Hey snow sports fans! This past weekend at Zhangjiakou’s Yunding Snow Park in Hebei Province, mainland China dominated the FIS Freestyle Ski World Cup aerials events ❄️.
Aerials is the thrilling discipline where skiers launch off ramps, pull off flips and twists in midair, and stick the landing on the slope. And wow, did China deliver!
In the women’s superfinal, Kong Fanyu nailed a jaw-dropping back full-full-full, scoring 102.17 points to claim her first World Cup win since 2021. 👏 Chen Meiting secured runner-up with 97.45 points, while 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics gold medalist Xu Mengtao rounded out the podium in third.
On the men’s side, mainland Chinese athletes also claimed gold and silver, sweeping the top spots and showcasing their aerial mastery 🥇🥈.
For those of us in South and Southeast Asia following from warmer climates, these high-flying flips are best enjoyed on screen – but they’re proof that with passion and practice, any dream can take flight. Stay tuned for more epic runs this season! 🚀
