The China Earthquake Networks Center reported a magnitude 6.1 tremor at 100 km depth, while Peru’s Geophysical Institute measured it at 6.0. The epicenter was near Chimbote in the Ancash region, striking at 9:51 p.m. local time.
Despite its strength, there are no reports of casualties or property damage so far.
