Fujian Coast Guard Drills Off Taiwan Island to Test Control Capabilities

On December 30, the Fujian coast guard organized a law enforcement patrol in the waters off Taiwan Island, says Zhu Anqing, spokesperson for the China Coast Guard East Sea Bureau 🚢🌊.

The mission focused on testing regional control capabilities through a series of drills:

  • Verification & Identification: Checking vessel credentials and flags 🏷️.
  • Warning & Expulsion: Issuing alerts and escorting non-compliant ships away 🚨.
  • Visit, Board, Search & Seizure (VBSS): Boarding operations to ensure maritime security 🛡️.

This patrol reflects ongoing efforts to strengthen maritime law enforcement and ensure safe navigation in the Taiwan Strait. Observers note that such drills help improve coordination, readiness, and quick response to potential threats or illegal activities.

While the patrol was organized by the coast guard of southeast China’s Fujian Province, it navigates sensitive waters where Taiwan authorities also maintain regular operations. These exercises showcase the coast guard’s focus on operational efficiency and regional stability.

Stay tuned as we track more developments in maritime security across the region 🧭⚓.
