New Doc ‘I Will Be There After My Wandering’ Spotlights Film Pioneer Wan-go Weng

🎬 120 Years of Cinema, 1 Pioneering Story

This year marks two major milestones in China's history: 80 years since the victory in the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and 120 years of Chinese filmmaking. To celebrate, filmmakers have crafted a 60-minute documentary, I Will Be There After My Wandering.

At its core is Wan-go Weng—a young student who left China following the Japanese invasion and settled in the US. Over the next 40 years, Weng produced dozens of documentaries, all shining a light on China’s rich culture when the world knew little about it.

The production team spent 2½ years tracking his journey, interviewing 33 experts, scholars, family members, and friends across ten cities in China and the US. They also unearthed rare archival footage, helping this exile’s cinematic "letter home" come alive.

Whether you’re a film buff in Mumbai, a doc-lover in Jakarta, or someone curious about diasporic stories, I Will Be There After My Wandering offers an inspiring look at how one person used the power of film to connect cultures. 🌏

This documentary is a testament to how cinema can bridge worlds—reminding us of the power of storytelling, no matter where we wander. ✨
