Deadly Gaza Strikes Kill 11 After Rocket Launch Fails

This week, tensions flared again in Gaza as Israeli airstrikes killed 11 Palestinians after a rocket launched from Gaza fell short and landed near a hospital. 💔

Medics say one strike hit a tent in western Khan Younis, killing four people (including children) and wounding three. Separate strikes in Jabalia, Deir al-Balah and Gaza City's Zeitoun area also claimed lives and injured displaced families sheltering in makeshift tents.

The Israeli military says its jets targeted Hamas militants, rocket launch pits and "terror infrastructure" in response to the failed rocket attack. They accused Hamas of breaking the ceasefire after the rocket landed by a Gaza hospital.

That ceasefire—agreed last October—paused major fighting and saw Hamas release hostages in exchange for Palestinian detainees. But under the plan crafted by U.S. President Donald Trump, future phases still need to cover full Israeli withdrawal, Hamas disarmament and an internationally backed Gaza administration planning long-term rebuilding. 🕊️

So far, little headway has been made. Over 400 Palestinians and three Israeli soldiers have died since the truce began, and most of Gaza's 2 million residents still live in damaged homes or tents. Israel is also waiting for the return of the final hostage remains before moving to the next stage or reopening the Rafah crossing with Egypt.

For many young people across South and Southeast Asia, the images from Gaza hit hard—reminding us that conflicts far away still touch global communities through shared platforms and social media. Keeping informed, advocating for peace and supporting humanitarian aid efforts can make a real difference. 🌍

Stay tuned as the situation evolves. We'll keep tracking updates and what they mean for communities on both sides of the fence.
