AIIB at 10: Powering Inclusive Growth in a Multipolar World

Ten Years of AIIB: Driving Inclusive Growth 🌍

Today, January 16, 2026, marks the 10th anniversary of the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB). What started with 57 founding members has now grown to 110, covering 81% of the world’s population and 65% of global GDP. 👏

Why does this matter for South and Southeast Asia? Our region still faces big infrastructure gaps—think Jakarta’s traffic jams, power outages in Manila, or limited internet access in rural Nepal. AIIB’s focused mandate on transport, energy, digital, and water systems tackles these bottlenecks head-on.

In the past decade, AIIB has approved over 300 projects, mobilizing $60 billion in direct financing and catalyzing more than $200 billion in total investment. From new highways in India to solar farms in Vietnam, these projects connect communities, boost industries, and improve daily lives. ⚡🏗️💧

AIIB's "lean, clean, and green" governance model—streamlined decisions, strong environmental and social safeguards, and an international team—has earned trust across diverse economies. 🤝

Partnership is at AIIB’s core. Co-financing with other development banks aligns standards, shares risks, and delivers bigger impact. It’s proof that global cooperation, not competition, paves the way for sustainable growth.

As we look ahead, AIIB’s first decade shows that in our multipolar world, inclusive development is a shared journey. By investing in smart infrastructure and collaboration, AIIB is helping build a future where everyone can thrive. ✨
