On Saturday in Taipei, a group of social media influencers gathered for an offline forum called "Peace Talks", pushing for peace and open chats across the Taiwan Strait. ✌️
Su Heng, a political commentary vlogger and forum organizer, says the event's core mission is to counter what they see as a secessionist narrative from the DPP authorities of the Taiwan region. "We call for dialogue between the two sides and for a rejection of war," she told both attendees and online viewers. 🔥
Joining via video, former Taiwan People's Party Chairman Ko Wen-je said that differences will always exist, but it's how we manage them that counts. "Replace confrontation with dialogue," he urged, warning that authorities led by Lai Ching-te are steering residents toward greater risks.
Jack Liu, who posts under the username "I am Jack Liu" and has over 150,000 YouTube subscribers, argued that current DPP policies won't protect the Taiwan region long term. He believes that dialogue is the best path to safeguard everyone's interests.
Another vlogger, Xiaojie, known for street interviews on both sides of the strait, shared his firsthand experiences traveling annually to mainland China. He says he's seen genuine warmth: "I've asked many mainland residents about their impressions of the Taiwan region, and they genuinely see us as part of one family."
"Peace Talks" is just the start, Su Heng added. Through upcoming forums, these influencers hope to show that war must not be an option and that dialogue is the real shield for the Taiwan region. 💬✨
